1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Saymo mobile application and related in-app features and services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to operate, maintain, and improve the app.
A. Microphone and Speech Recognition Data
- Saymo requests access to your device's microphone and, where applicable, speech-recognition permissions so that speaking features can work.
- We do not store voice recordings ourselves.
- Speech input may be processed by your device operating system or its speech-recognition services in order to convert speech to text.
- If you deny microphone or speech-recognition permissions, speaking features may be unavailable, but other parts of the app may remain usable.
B. Learning Progress and On-Device Data
Saymo stores certain information locally on your device, including:
- lesson progress
- vocabulary and phrase statistics
- difficulty and language preferences
- locally cached lesson assets, audio, and other downloaded content
- locally generated identifiers used for app function and analytics
C. Account Data
- We do not require you to provide your name or other personal information to use the app.
D. Analytics and Diagnostics Data
We use analytics and diagnostics tools to understand app usage and improve reliability. Depending on the feature, this may include:
- app version
- platform and OS version
- session information
- feature usage and screen events
- a device-scoped random identifier created by the app
- crash and error information
We configure Sentry so that default personally identifying information is not sent, and we remove IP address data from Sentry user records if present.
E. Advertising Data
Saymo uses Google Mobile Ads to show ads in some versions or flows of the app.
- The app requests non-personalized ads only.
- Even for non-personalized ads, Google and its partners may process certain device, app, and advertising-related information as described in their own policies.
F. Subscription and Purchase Data
If you purchase a subscription:
- Apple or Google processes the transaction
- we may receive subscription status and product information needed to enable premium access
- we do not receive or store your payment details
G. Feedback and Support Data
If you choose to send feedback or contact support through the app, we may collect:
- the feedback message you submit
- limited contextual information about where in the app the feedback was submitted
- a random anonymous feedback identifier used to group submissions
Feedback submitted through the in-app feedback flow may be delivered to our support tooling.
H. Server and Network Data
When the app downloads lesson content, audio, images, or other assets from our backend, our systems and hosting providers may receive standard technical request data such as:
- IP address
- request timestamps
- device or app metadata needed to serve the request
We do not use this technical request data to identify you personally. It is used only as needed to deliver content, maintain service security and reliability, and troubleshoot technical issues.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- provide speaking and learning features
- save and restore progress
- deliver subscriptions and premium entitlements
- diagnose crashes and bugs
- measure feature usage and improve app performance
- deliver ads where applicable
- respond to support and feedback submissions
- protect the app against abuse or misuse
4. Legal Bases and Consent
Depending on your location, we process information on one or more of the following bases:
- performance of a contract, such as providing app features you request
- our legitimate interests in maintaining, securing, and improving the app
- compliance with legal obligations where required
5. Third-Party Services
Saymo uses third-party services that may process data under their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Analytics: Google Privacy Policy
- Sentry: Sentry Privacy
- Google Mobile Ads / AdMob: Google Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Apple Privacy Policy
- Google Play / Google Play Billing: Google Privacy Policy
If speech recognition is handled by your device platform or provider, that provider's terms and privacy policy may also apply.
6. Data Retention
We retain data for different periods depending on the type of data:
- local progress and settings remain on your device until you clear the app data, use the in-app deletion flow, or uninstall the app
- analytics, diagnostics, and subscription-related records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app, or as required by law
- support and feedback submissions may be retained as long as needed to respond to and review the submission
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data.
You can also:
- deny microphone or speech-recognition permissions in your device settings
- stop using speaking features
- use the app's account deletion flow, where available
- uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about your privacy choices in Saymo, contact us at the email below.
8. Account and Data Deletion
Saymo includes an in-app deletion flow intended to remove local progress data and reset app data on your device.
Please note:
- uninstalling the app removes local app data stored on your device
- uninstalling alone may not delete all server-side records associated with diagnostics, analytics, purchases, or feedback submissions
- because some analytics, diagnostics, and feedback records may be anonymous or not directly linked to your identity, we may not be able to identify or delete specific records on request
- for privacy questions, contact us at the email below
9. Children's Privacy
Saymo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will review the request.
10. International Data Transfers
Third-party service providers used by Saymo may process data in countries other than your own. Where applicable, those providers are responsible for using appropriate safeguards for international transfers under their policies and legal obligations.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information processed through Saymo. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or through the store listing.
